To tell the truth, I knew I purchased a used book, but it was really beat up and I couldn't give it to my son as a surprise gift. We took this book out at our local library and he loved it so I wanted him to own this book. It was ripped and taped and just plain "over used".

My son loves this book! He makes me read it over and over again. It presents a lot of interesting facts about freight trains and is well illustrated. Should definitely be a hit for a train lover.
We read this at a bookstore. I thought it was o.k., but way overpriced at $16. My 4-year-old has been begging me to buy it ever since, though. It has a nice ending, and if it were closer to $7, I would buy it.
My Freight Train is the story of a little boy who imagines he is the engineer of a modern day freight train. The story describes the various cars an engine might pull, what they are filled with, how they are connected and what a typical day is like for an engineer of such a train. My son, who is now four, has adored this book since he was two. The story ends with the boy falling asleep in the arms of his father and is a great bedtime book for a child who loves trains.
I have a 4 year old and 2 year old who both love trains and this book is a big hit. It explains in a great, simple way the different cars in a freight train and a little about what a freight train does. Its longer than a simple book for toddlers but still only a couple sentences per page so its much shorter than books aimed at the elementary school age. Pictures are brightly colored and engaging. Definitely recommend if your kids really enjoy trains.
Our son loves trains and this book is one of his favorites. We got it from the library and hope to find a copy for keeps!

Checked this out of the library for my 3 year old and he loved it so much I had to get a copy for our home. The pictures provide lots to look at and there is just the right amount of text on the page.
